Mitsubishi Chemical Launches CFRP Honeycomb Sandwich Propeller for Industrial UAVs, Setting New Benchmark for Lightweight Performance
PASIA Composites Delivers UAV-Ready Carbon Fiber Aramid Honeycomb Panels with Proven Aerospace Heritage
October 12, 2026 – Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation has launched a CFRP honeycomb sandwich propeller for industrial-grade UAVs, achieving simultaneous breakthroughs in lightweighting, stiffness, and mass production capability. The propeller features carbon fiber reinforced epoxy prepreg skins and an aluminum honeycomb core, reducing weight by approximately 45% compared to solid CFRP structures while enhancing torsional and bending rigidity to suppress deformation during high-speed flight.
Manufactured using prepreg compression molding with rapid-cure prepregs, the propeller achieves short-cycle mass production with performance approaching autoclave standards, while precisely controlling blade dimensional accuracy and dynamic balance. The product is designed for heavy-lift, long-endurance industrial UAV applications including agricultural spraying, logistics, and inspection mapping.
The launch highlights the growing demand for advanced honeycomb sandwich structures in the unmanned aerial systems sector. PASIA Composites Co., Ltd. is a key enabler of this trend, offering carbon fiber aramid honeycomb panels specifically engineered for UAV chassis and aerospace applications. These panels feature a Nomex/aramid core and carbon fiber prepreg skins, with densities as low as 29–160 kg/m³, high shear strength, flame retardancy with low smoke and toxicity, and excellent fatigue resistance.
PASIA’s product portfolio also includes aluminum honeycomb cores for energy absorption, PP thermoplastic honeycomb, and specialized honeycomb energy absorbers. The company’s high-performance aluminum honeycomb cores convert kinetic energy into controlled, predictable crushing forces, with customizable crush strength ranges from 0.175 to 55 MPa and cell sizes from 0.125″ to 0.75″.
With more than 20 years of expertise, PASIA operates a complete in-house honeycomb core production line and independently designs and manufactures aerospace-grade and commercial-grade aluminum honeycomb cores. The company has invested significantly in advanced production equipment, including automated laser welding production lines and vacuum brazing technology. PASIA also offers OEM and ODM services and employs 3D printing (FDM/MJF) for rapid prototyping of complex nested honeycomb architectures with precision up to ±0.05 mm. Production management is certified under ISO9001:2015, and products are exported to Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Korea, Singapore, the Middle East, Russia, Australia, and other markets.
As the industrial UAV, eVTOL, and urban air mobility markets continue to expand, PASIA Composites is positioned to supply high-performance honeycomb core and sandwich panels at competitive cost. The company’s vertically integrated manufacturing model, R&D capabilities, and strong quality systems support a robust market outlook in the rapidly growing unmanned systems sector.
