Build-in Electric Heating Unit for Pipeline with Mineral Insulated Heating Cable is a complete set with mineral insulated heating cable directly put into the pipeline to make the best use of the good mechanical and corrosion-resistant performance of the MI heating cable. The term “in-pipe” is used to distinguish the MI heating cable from the traditional electric heating products that are installed outside the pipe (s).
When the MI heating cable threaded directly into the pipe, the heat is 100% transferred into the pipe to heat the gas or liquid media in the pipe or maintain their temperature. It is especially suitable for heating the gathering and transportation pipeline of oil well in low production period, promoting the flow of crude oil in the pipeline, reducing well pressure and ensuring oil production.
It can be also used as the substitute of wellhead heater with advantages: once accident circumstance of pipe condensate blocking, after a continuous and long time electric heat input, the medium with condensate blocked inside pipeline will be gradually melted linearly then the transmission pipeline will be put through again quickly.
The required use conditions are that the medium flow in the pipeline is laminar flow state, while turbulent state will be considered to use special measures. There should be no straight valve on the pipeline.
Properties
High thermal efficiency: the heating element of the built-in electric heater is placed in pipeline, which contacts completely with the internal medium, and the heat energy generated can be 100% in the pipe, so the thermal efficiency is high.
Stable performance: both MI heating cable and temperature measuring cable are made of inorganic insulating materials, and their physical and chemical properties are stable under the rated service temperature.
Long service life: the metal sheath of MI heating cable and temperature measuring cable is sealed, seamless, with great mechanical strength and no thermal aging. The long service life can be guaranteed over 30 years by using the sheath material which is resistant to medium corrosion.
Easy installation: the product is built into the pipeline without internal fixation, external connection is simple. (turbulent state should be specially considered)
Safe and reliable: complete sets of products are equipped with reliable electrical protection measures, and their automatic operation is much safer, more explosion-proof and reliable, fully meeting the HSE management standards of oil and gas fields.
Working Principle
Built-in electric heating unit is purely resistive electrothermal loaded. The heat energy is discharged through the metal sheath of MI heating cable and the surrounding medium, so as to realize the heating or insulation of the medium. The whole process is completed in the pipeline. Diagram of system electrical principle is shown in figure 2.
