Basalt Fiber Roving for Weaving Geogrids Geotextiles and High Temperature Resistant Fabrics

Basalt continuous fiber roving is a high-performance reinforcement material manufactured from homogenized basalt rock through advanced pool kiln wire-drawing technology, directly formed by a 2400-hole large bushing. As a bundle of continuous unidirectional complex basalt fibers, this roving delivers exceptional mechanical strength, thermal endurance, and chemical resistance, making it the ideal choice for weaving applications including geogrids, geotextiles, and high-temperature resistant fabrics.

Key Features & Performance

· Superior Mechanical Properties – High tensile strength (≥0.65 N/tex) and high elastic modulus (≥95 GPa) provide specific tenacity exceeding steel fibers by multiple times. Low elongation under load ensures dimensional stability in demanding applications.
· Exceptional Thermal Resistance – Long-term service temperature ranges from –260°C to +680°C, with the ability to withstand short-term exposure up to 1000°C. Some variants maintain integrity at sustained temperatures up to 982°C (1800°F).
· Outstanding Chemical & Environmental Durability – Highly resistant to acids, alkalis, and solvents; immune to UV radiation, nuclear radiation, and biological contamination. Non-corrosive and inert in aggressive environments.
· Excellent Processability – Low fuzz and easy resin infiltration, compatible with a wide range of resin systems including epoxy (EP), phenolic, and others. Suitable for multi-axial weaving processes to produce complex fabric architectures.
· Eco-Friendly & Safe – Made from natural volcanic rock, non-toxic, with no carcinogenic risks.

Primary Applications

· Geogrids – Woven into high-strength geogrids for asphalt pavement reinforcement, offering strong competitive advantage at asphalt mixing temperatures up to 190°C. Improves durability and split-resistance of pavements.
· Geotextiles – Produces mesh fabrics and geotextiles for soil stabilization, erosion control, and infrastructure strengthening.
· High-Temperature Resistant Fabrics – Woven into fireproof textiles, thermal insulation fabrics, and protective clothing for extreme heat environments. Suitable for chevron cloth, mesh fabrics, and multi-axial fabrics.
· Additional Weaving Applications – Unidirectional fabrics, electrical insulation base cloth, needled felt base cloth, and radiation-resistant fabrics (650–980°C).
